The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 如果要说有啥差了点那就是最后的动作重头戏只是搞了个球堵在スクランブル交差点有点不够看吧。
穿行在黑白的城市间，回归到生命和亲密关系最原始的状态，天马行空的交谈或许没有实际的意义，那就用这样的对话治愈心灵吧，会思考的灵魂格外美丽。
完全生活化的相处，生活化的节奏，形似纪录片的剧情片，这俩人的台词功力太令人折服。但仅仅是相处和小矛盾还是撑不起整部电影，没有深度，也没有冲突，太容易疲倦了。虽然穿插了很多有意思的采访，但就像微风拂面，过去了就过去了。
3.7分。 这部片子算是回到了麦克·米尔斯的那部《初学者》的水平，大量的闪回画面，看似无意义实则扎着绵密注脚的读书文字，都让我们感受到朦胧和多义的味道。 一个舅舅在缺爱多年后，临时照顾外甥，由此展开了一段有欢喜有烦恼的人生小插曲，在此之中，三个人都得到某种程度的成长。舅舅不再遮盖伤痕，妈妈重新认识了儿子，小男孩有了继续生活的勇气，从底色上依然是美式积极价值观的重拾，但叙述的方式和影像的魅力却不同寻常。成人如何重新定义自己？孩子如何发掘长大的勇气，这个话题可能是贯穿米尔斯电影最为重要的一个命题。
警校组😭😭😭剧情大概就是看了一半能猜到全部吧🥲
黑白电影，很有质感。故事很细腻，娓娓道来，很生活，很喜欢这种叙事方式。最惊艳的是，人家国家的小朋友的思想深度和语言表达水平之强令人赞叹，我还是小朋友的时候应该只会看动画片和玩泥巴。生活挺不容易的，很多人都是一身伤，敏感的，总有泪崩和失落，还有崩溃的瞬间。为人父母不容易，孩子健康成长也不容易。特别写实，所以也特别让人共鸣吧。越看到后面越感动，涉及到很多内核，值得仔细回味。
是成人的兒童片，也是兒童的成人片。小演員的表演太好了，他的表演、語調、身體都有著巨大的複雜性，和那麼厲害的演員對戲也絲毫不遜色。紀錄片的視角和小朋友的回答著實讓我感到十分驚訝，自由世界的小孩他們的所思所想、表達都已經到達那麼厲害的高度了。

画面虽然是黑白的，却让人看到了色彩斑斓的众生相，而且也摒除了彩色带来的干扰。我很喜欢！
