The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 电影就是要有一些温度和人文关怀的，这部电影做到了，小变态的演技不用多说，感染力很强，其实更该想想的，是为何人家对疫情的反思与反省可以在影视作品中看到，而我们能看到的只有一些假大空的作品，我们真的抗抑成功了吗？伤痛中的武汉人民真的痊愈了吗？或许有人会说，这跟你有什么关系呢？是啊，跟我有什么关系呢？这才是我们该思考的问题。
剧情本身而言拍得很现实，让人很难受。

镜头打一开始就很压抑，节奏有种刻意的凌乱。叙事的时间线很简单，推进很快，高潮在一瞬间爆发，结尾像是一种呐喊。五星是因为电影讲出了一种真实。总有阳光照不到的地方，但同样需要被人看到。
