The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 整体质量差不多就是TVB律政剧的一个单元案那样，故事是完整的，不过就毫无新意，毫无深度。方中信keep得不错，陈家乐有点灾难。

几乎每个人说话都是压低嗓门装出一副苦大愁深的味道，什么毛病。挺好的故事，拍得象是流水账。高调唱得好听，法律、公平，其实关键还是资本家拿钱砸出了一个黑警反水当证人。讽刺不？另外，香港那地儿还能有政党政治？爱民党是什么鬼？
该有的元素都有了，老戏骨们的水准依旧在线，但就像这些新生代演员一样，港片也不过如此了，比照刚刚看完的《龙虎武师》，实在令人唏嘘…

方中信演律师还是挺有气质的。李逸峰在酒吧认识漂亮的美女，一夜邂逅就变成了杀人嫌疑犯。这个案件还是比较简单，有点以前TVB港剧的感觉。
-整体不错 但是故事经不起推敲
哎哟，看完热评有时候觉得我不配看电影，这些观影人都好厉害哦，又是换成穷人，又是不够，想给高分还得犹豫一下。
法庭戲太弱了，漏洞也多，應該打電話處理的事非要留下語音信息，一個不誠實證人讓案件早早失去懸念，導致兩位律師立場轉變生硬。
老戏骨演得好，剧本麻麻地了，警察的角色太单薄，太突然。
故事本身没什么新意，人物的转变有点太突然，雷律师布的那个局也不算是多么巧妙，全片甚至也没在强调人性，而是在说在这样的社会里，善如何通过力量和手段去胜出
经典港片过时套路 用钱换来最后的真相也挺讽刺的 亮点可能只有两个老戏骨船上的对峙了

比较真实，方中信的演技靠得住！ 律师绝对不是只有一腔正义就行的职业，牢记初心，有手段有谋略才行。最后一段老套路，略显得做作。雷也是确定了郭一定会为女儿豁出去才能成功。
