Ten years ago, Ginny (Toni Gonzaga), an Architecture student, and Marco (Piolo Pascual), a History professor, began a one-of-a-kind and unpredictable love story. In the five years that they were together, they brought out the best in each other, which included Marco's unrealized dream of becoming a chef. Together, they worked towards their dream of opening up a restaurant, but when Ginny realized her own pursuits were different from his, she rejected his wedding proposal and left the country for a Masters degree in Architecture. At present, Ginny co-owns a one-stop Architecture and Interior Design firm specializing in Restoration. She receives an email from Marco, which was written and sent after their break-up, meant to be read four years later. It makes her feel even more regretful of leaving the love of her life. Your typical nice looking, "heart warming" A24 flick...unrealistically precocious kid paired with confused middle-aged man and through turbulence and conflicts they gradually learn from each other and cherish the experience forever --- I have seen this one many times before. The "it's okay to yell, and then yelling out loud" scene in particular is soooo much of a cliche. Cinematography is alright but not really impressive, watching this back to back with Red Rocket the difference is so obvious (ok B&W is at disadvantage but still).The interview bits aren't integrated organically into the story, and it feels like the feel-good, "heartfelt" material got mixed in just for audience appeal.

为我的童年打上五星。好难过好难过。从小学就开始看柯南，现在我都快20岁了。人生有几个二十年呢。好羡慕柯南他们，永远都不会变老。 零好有魅力。结尾的歌曲我也在循环播放。柯南，永远都不要完结。
导演兼编剧迈克·米尔斯用自己和儿子的真实经历为故事底板，撰写了这部接近于素描的叙事体黑白电影，借以探讨成年人和儿童的相处之道。由于身份错位，孩子眼中的舅舅貌似是亲戚实则更像一位陌生大叔，而舅舅对待这位“滑头”的小外甥更多赋予了自己酷似“父亲”的责任加持，于是他们之间由陌生走向熟悉，最终互相温暖了对方，尤其是外甥对舅舅的治愈，在结尾令观众无不感动，而华金·菲尼克斯也向观众再度奉献了一处绝佳的表演。

What a bittersweet, healing, and intimate movie. Joaquin, Hoffman, and Norman are spectacular. The children's words are innocent yet profound. One of my favourite of the year. 9/10

D+ / 很难进入，导演一如既往采用了十分散文化的拍摄方式，而提腔拿调过于缺乏在地感，因此无法理解角色所思所想，尤其不理解孩子的角色，严重欠缺真实感。
