The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 前一阵我从达拉斯去了了墨西哥城，看完本片就是俩字“舒坦”。片尾的歌曲唱着Find a new home, 或许对东木老爷子来说，美国已经没什么值得留恋的了。
既黑色又可怕，但是竟然看下去了，还有点感动。大咖配音，BGM还这么好，看来是个很著名的流行文化。想看第一集了，不正常却又很正常
老年牛仔的隨遇而安，品質不能說太好，情節衝突過於生硬，劇情也過於溫吞小品，但是情懷是有的，滿滿東木爺老牛仔精神揮發，收尾是美麗的，老牛仔孤單一輩子，值得人生第二春
虽然风格蛮新颖，但是剧情真的蛮弱智的。
太无趣了，没内味了！！！！就是一个亚当斯的皮，本质是什么we are family，我真的会谢。。。而且动不动就唱歌搞什么鬼啊，太难看了！！！只喜欢片尾那段主题曲，其他的都不好看
虽然还是基本上一年一部劳模东木老爷，但是确实是这些年最差的一部东木。基本上是【骡子】【老爷车】【百万美元宝贝】那一类的年长者对年轻人从严厉不理解到关心的路子，更是完全复刻了【完美的世界】的整个故事架构。可惜整体还是缺乏细节和套路化。不管是中途那场偶遇的天伦之乐，还是结尾那只斗鸡的绝境逢春，都太巧合太理想化太扁平了。东木也似乎只是一个有故事的老者，他慢慢融化，仅此而已。甚至在故事的最后他也没有阻止那场糟糕的父子相见，他不愿去表达了。当然，东木最大的优势还是影迷们内心对他深深的情感连接，看到东木老爷的样子从60年代迈入20年代，他的每个角色都附带了太多这个作品之外的灵魂，只要他站在西部，带着牛仔帽，永远能察觉到他身上那份变成了历史的荣耀和当下的孤寂。
如果给楚原拍，绝对就是凌云狄龙岳华等型男千里赴约托送故人子一类快意恩仇的故事。但在东木这里显得格外淡然，墨西哥的风光、西班牙热情舞曲，给节奏极慢的故事添了几分亮色。

6/10。老爷子这次太温和了吧，甚至有点意淫，哪是悲伤的男人，是在天堂的老男人。插科打诨的公路之旅，《绿皮书》里的朋友转变成了父子，最后好莱坞式成长还抱得美娇娘。鸡的演技好于男孩。这片换个男主是不成立的，所有解读都基于东木自身的“夕阳无限好”。
终究比第一部差一点，最后结尾稍微肉麻了些，其他部分都很好，还是希望能有下一部
这似乎是东木的一封老年情书，一辈子的骑士精神，男性力量，在老年全部看淡，男性也可以不用力量征服，也可以温柔的哭泣，男性一生戎马，老了只想在咖啡店抱着心爱的人跳舞，年轻时候执着的事，老了反而迷茫了……
哈哈 这才是真Doctor Dolittle的的奇幻冒险
如果不是套着亚当斯一家的马甲，还真就不会去看它！你说它是宠物大冒险也没毛病
娱乐性更强了，有点违背了哥特反映现实的黑暗喜剧内核，但胜在制作精良，who doesn’t love watching the Family😏
没想到老爷子在耄耋之年拍了一部墨西哥家庭温情片，一如当年老西部片里退隐江湖的游侠悍匪一样，走完这辈子最后一次长途旅行，终于找到自己的归宿所在。简单的对白，轻微的冲突，都在刻意淡化矛盾；取而代之的是云淡风轻与波澜不惊。电影里的macho，银幕外永远的纯爷们。

就吵吵闹闹就过去了，这片子。看起来还是挺欢乐的，感觉叔叔永远是最惨的，姐姐永远是最酷😎的。

续集节奏也太差了，东拼西凑的完全没有给每个人形象加成，叔叔完全变成工具人…也没有第一部那种阴森森的搞笑氛围了，失去了addams的灵魂…
