The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 这里没有斯德哥尔摩综合征患者，暴力的对象极其明确。傲慢的权力，迟早陷入愚蠢的慌张，和自戕的局促。在觉醒的民众面前，一切反动派都是纸老虎。有一种暴力是反抗，有一种对抗是解放，有一种牺牲，是献身，有一种精神，是自由。
影片场景设置有一定特点，整个剧情的发展设置在一个银行圆形大厅里，类似就像设置了一个舞台，剧情的推进也基本以舞台剧的方式，围绕着这个中心的场景发展。
电影十分细腻，情节刻画的十分到位，最后向自己和解的结尾也十分喜欢，毕竟世界过于简单就没有想象中那么好了

结尾很奇妙的升华了主题，爱真的是美好的不分性别的情感。遗憾，谎言，背叛，又或是死亡，好青春啊。
根据上世纪八十年代发生于南非的真实银行人质劫持案改编。影片整体上还拍得比较流畅，尤其是开头的几个追逐镜头，场景调度非常到位，一气呵成。此案件并非简单的刑事案件，实则是有着强烈的政治背景，劫犯是南非反种族隔离的黑人，提出的条件是释放曼德拉。导演处理起来有些左右为难，既想将这起张力十足的案件拍得好看，又得兼具其政治背景，在剧情中加入许多政治元素，竭力向着有历史感的政治性影片方向引。此片后面显得有些松懈，逻辑上也出现问题，最后喊起了口号。

另外三位南非“革命先驱”在片中形象真的一点都不高大全。男主卡尔文有哮喘，也不像是特别聪明的人。但当你看到他们为了那个在当时根本不可能达成的目标而拼上一切时，又深深的使人动容……
在最恶劣的环境中，心存善良，为信仰而战，历史会告诉世人，所追求信仰的对错。
