The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 十年前丈夫豪氣干雲，妻子怕他會死想要下江南。十年後丈夫英氣盡失，妻子怕他貪生怕死想要他一戰... ...
看出来导演想努力拍不一样的网大，也确实有点不一样的感觉，但故事、武打、表演都有点中途半端。
就是剧情有点无语。
制作不算精良，但很用心，整体也有“侠”和“江湖”的味道

勉强一看，至少比绝大多数网络电影好太多。
西北刀客的武侠故事。有点古龙小说的味道。作为腾讯视频独播的小制作，这种质量已经算不错了。
小电影，非名家大导出手，感觉已经很不错了，比网上一大堆垃圾强多了！对了，这摄影真不错！
武打设计不错，但是人物立不住，故事太苍白，表演也有点粗糙，千人斩很明显是在模仿隔壁《绣春刀》吧。
水平有限，网大里算认真的。故事核心是林冲陆谦原型，名字都直给得没改。武侠电影是式微了，但还是看不下去这种从东邪西毒新龙门客栈倭寇的踪迹双旗镇刀客等一系列里各挑点东西的缝合片。
动作戏和布景都很用心，化妆差点意思，流放十年回来皮肤居然还是油光水滑的，另外剧情不符合常理，金满堂的死而复活安排的就有点诡异，另外以大卫的智商难道非要等到特赦回来了才知道当初是谁出卖了他吗？另外片头“刀法即棍法”这个一线索直到影片结束了也没有填坑，最后的一场决斗戏让男主弃刀使棍御敌不是更酷吗？
网大已经可以磨出这般质地的片子，加一星，以资鼓励
已经很久没有看到这样剧情打戏俱佳的武侠片了，每一帧精彩的画面随着剧情吸引你一直看下去，很久没有坚持在电脑前坐着看完一部完整的电影，这部 我是看完还想再看一遍的电影。
十步杀一人，千里不留行，杀人技本该如此，剧情一般，高开低走，又见戚家刀，打戏好评！

道理我都懂，但是既然30年前就有《双旗镇刀客》了，30年后还拍这种片子作甚。🤡
年度最佳西部片。各种元素都到位，还要什么自行车。
