时代怒涛中个体的离乱是永恒的文学命题，预定《浪客剑心》系列最佳。本片作为一部前传，拔高了整个系列的格调，也极大地拓展、激发了绯村剑心这个角色的深度与魅力。
虽然是漫改但拍出史诗质感，男主俊逸潇洒完全不中二。
绯村剑心出生于幕末时代的日本，原名绯村心太。参加了桂小五郎、高杉晋作等长州藩维新志士的“奇兵队”募集，因剑术出众而被桂小五郎任命为专门暗杀幕府要员的刽子手。
这部的文戏较多，对于大部分人来讲或许有过沉闷，没啥可说的，最后的配乐响起是鸡皮疙瘩瞬间起来。
