The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 网大才是国产恐怖片发展的正道，毕竟尺度要大一些。
比较无聊的烂片。非要罗生门式地叙述那么多条线索却又hold不住，毫无层次，情节乱七八糟使人心烦意乱。与其观看它，不如欣赏一部精彩欢乐的大烂片。对了，还有令人窒息的五毛钱特效。
难得为地主说了一句话，也难得没有一味丑化土匪。最后归于虚构也是高级的规避手法。罗生门结构也做的可以。只是瘟疫这个设置可以省掉。
主旨就是善有善报恶有恶报 看完真的有点暗爽 四星给鼓励！
哎哟，今年的网大这是要冲一波？出乎意料的好看耶
一群没任何名气的人，带着脚镣跳了一个中规中矩的舞，在大陆恐怖片里，算是优秀的，给三星，鼓励！
一个网大竟然有点《罗生门》和《八恶人》的影子。再这么下去，院线那些烂片的故事要干不过这种网大了……
就想起来一句影视评论人毛尖在毒叔脱口秀讲过，“中国电影走过一百多年，左翼电影千辛万苦把清白的良心还给了底层，然后一百年不到，我们的影视作品又把心机和穷人、天真和富人进行了连接”。
写不尽的人心呦。
你要说层层规矩拍不出好作品，我就一个呸字，就算是斋菜，手艺好，用心做，能不美味?很欣慰看到网大在没太多人关注的情况下，能够发展到现今的状况，虽然情商依旧很多，比如台词润色一般都比较粗糙，但整体节奏的把握和剧情设置，都已经可以算是及格以上了。前半部分的狐妖故事和后半部分的人比鬼恶，整体的衔接下，确实跟很多人说的一样，有了八恶人和罗生门的影子，最重要的是逻辑能够自洽，这点很是可以了，总体上瑕不掩瑜，接近七分水准了，算是近几年网大恐怖题材里的佳作……
魑魅魍魉，或许就是这些炊烟袅袅的人家，他们可以心安理得接受别人三年的馈赠，又可以反过来憎恶对方给予不够多，他们会因为欲望、金钱、嫉妒、生存而变得面目可憎。人人皆可变魍魉，人人皆可修善缘。
没大家吹的那样神，悬疑上做的比较精致，四分鼓励一下
片名猎奇，但剧本比院线鬼片出彩多了。不是诡谈，而是一个罗生门式的故事。比鬼更可怕的是人心。多一星鼓励。
两个半小时，但看的时候倒没觉得多长，反而结尾突然：诶？完了？第一次看这种题材的电影，但是是第二次看到桃李的pp了（
网大其实拍的就是太浮夸了，故事其实挺丰满的
无论再说多少遍，世俗的眼光与看法都是正确的，绝对正确
地牢那里想到了火云邪神，还有《笑傲江湖》。水形怪相比别的怪兽有了点求变。
剧中所有的不开心，都能被一个人、一段关系治愈。在觉得被生活打脸的时候，这部电影能温暖到你。像是寒冷的冬夜，下着雪、刮着风，一个人走走进一家咖啡店，接一杯热拿铁，瞬间有一股暖意，能驱走几分寒冷。
这剧本你牛逼了。。。可惜其他方面进步空间很大
两个孤独的灵魂互相拥抱取暖，阻力再大也不能将他们牵在一起的手分开。
